...Heavy rain likely for parts of Texas......Above average temperatures over the Plains and Midwest...

Showers and thunderstorms capable of producing heavy rainfall are expected across portions of Coastal TX today through Thu as a tropical disturbance moves onshore. Rainfall amounts of 1-3 inches are expected throughout the area by Wed morning with localized higher amounts reaching 4-6 inches where repeated rounds of heavy showers/storms occur and/or merge. The heaviest rainfall is expected to occur on Wed and through Thu with total rainfall amounts of 6-8 (locally 10-12) inches expected. Rainfall rates of 1-3” per hour will be possible, especially in the heaviest showers/thunderstorms. Flash flooding, some locally significant where the heaviest rainfall occurs, will be possible, especially in low-lying, poor drainage areas and near small rapidly-responding bodies of water and drainage canals.
